CrimeStoppers released the lookout for Barnett on August 3, 2023, on behalf of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Barnett was originally wanted for multiple outstanding felony drug charges and a gun charge. Court documents indicated that Barnett was unlawfully in possession of a firearm after being convicted of felony and criminal charges that would prevent him from possessing a firearm.

CrimeStoppers was notified on September 19, 2023, that Barnett had been arrested and was no longer wanted. Barnett was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility

The United States Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force is actively searching for the location of fugitive, Diego Barrera, 21.

Barrera is described as a Hispanic male, 5’5 ft. in height, weighing approximately 170 lbs. Barrera is wanted for Capital Murder by the Montgomery Police Department. Barrera was developed as a suspect in the shooting death of Carlos Jones, 39.

On Saturday, March 12, 2022, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Montgomery Patrol Units and medics responded to the 1700 block of Upper Wetumpka Road in reference to a subject shot. Upon arrival, the victim, black male, Carlos Jones, 39 YOA, of Montgomery was found to have sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.

Investigators are acting swiftly to locate Barrera. In an effort to ensure Barrera is located in a timely manner, CrimeStoppers is increasing its cash reward for the apprehension of Barrera. On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, the Alabama Department of Corrections requested assistance in locating Christopher Ivy Bates.  Bates is described as a black male, age 34, 5’04” in height, weighing approximately 144 lbs. Bates has multiple tattoos. Bates is wanted for Escape.

Bates was serving a 20-year prison sentence for robbery at the Loxley Detention Facility. Bates escaped from the Gulf Shores Sports Plex in Gulf Shores, Alabama, where he was currently assigned. Bates was wearing his ADOC uniform, but investigators believe he changed his clothes upon escape. Investigators say Bates escaped Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at about 1:00 a.m.

UNION SPRINGS POLICE LOCATE FUGITIVE WANTED FOR BURGLARY

On April 22, 2024, the Union Springs Police Department requested public assistance with locating fugitive, David Lamar Benton Jr., 19.

Benton Jr. was originally wanted for burglary 3rd degree and theft of property 1st degree by the Union Springs Police Department.

Investigators say Benton Jr. was wanted for his involvement in a burglary that occurred last year on March 27, 2023, in the 100 block of Highway 29 North, Union Springs, Alabama.

Investigators credit information provided to CrimeStoppers by another law enforcement agency that helped ultimately locate Benton Jr. Thanks to the collaboration of area law enforcement agencies working together, Benton Jr. was located promptly.

Benton Jr. was taken into custody by the Macon County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in Macon County, AL. Benton Jr. will be transported back to Union Springs where he will be held at the Bullock County Detention Facility.

On June 8, 2023, investigators asked for assistance locating Bowen who was originally wanted for theft of services 1st degree. Court documents indicated that Bowen did not pay for lodging by deception, threat, or other means to avoid payment while staying at a Montgomery area hotel. The services exceeded a value of $2,500.00.

Investigators credit an anonymous tip provided through CrimeStoppers with providing the whereabouts of Bowen. The information ultimately led to the apprehension of Bowen.

The Covington County Sheriff’s Office requested public assistance on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, and was searching for the whereabouts of fugitive, Brandon Brewster, 26. Brewster was wanted for multiple outstanding felony charges and outstanding warrants from three law enforcement agencies.

Investigators say Brewster was arrested on Wednesday evening, September 21, 2023, in New Brockton, AL.

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers would like to recognize the outstanding work of law enforcement with the apprehension of Brewster. Police responded to the scene and located an adult female who sustained a gunshot wound. The female was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
