Murder of Takata Floyd
October 24, 2022

CrimeStoppers Increases Reward for September Homicide To $5,000!

500 Block of Centennial Way

Montgomery, Alabama

Case: MPD22-10202022-A

Montgomery Police Department

334-625-2831

The reward has increased.  Central Alabama CrimeStoppers will now pay $5,000.00 for information that leads to the identity and arrest of any subject involved in the Murder of Takata Floyd.  The reward increased due to the City of Montgomery Mayor’s Office offering $4,000 in addition to the $1,000 previously offered by CrimeStoppers.

This is not uncommon for the Mayor’s Office to add to a reward, advised CrimeStoppers Director Tony Garrett.  The Montgomery Mayor’s Office, City Council, and Montgomery County Commission have often offered monetary donations toward unsolved crimes.  For example, Councilman Oronde Mitchell and County Commissioner Rhonda Walker, on multiple occasions, have added to rewards, provided their personal time working behind the scenes talking to victim’s families, and even walked door to door searching for witnesses to a crime.   It’s always good to witness examples of true public service from our elected officials, said Garrett.

On Monday, September 5, 2022, at about 10:41 p.m., police responded to the 500 block of Centennial Way, in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, police located, an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as, Takata Floyd, 31, of Montgomery, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Montgomery Police Investigator’s released a video of an unknown subject, wearing a black face cover and white gloves, chasing the victim with what appears to be a gun through the apartment complex, the suspect is wanted for the fatal shooting.
