Armed Robbery - 11/17/25

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding an armed robbery.

On November 7, 2025, at approximately 8:15 p.m., an unknown male entered Exotics Smoke Shop located at 110 East University Avenue in Urbana. The male asked an employee to unlock a vape display case then brandished a handgun demanding the product from inside the case. The employee pointed out the numerous surveillance cameras recording them and the suspect fled.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a black mask and all black clothing. The male appeared to have a black plaster cast on his left hand and fingers.

Robbery in Champaign - Posted 11/10/25
November 10, 2025

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a robbery.

On October 9, 2025, at 7:15 p.m., an unknown male robbed a female of her purse in the 500 block of S. Mattis Ave. in Champaign. The purse was recovered but the victim’s wallet and checkbook were missing. The suspect was last seen running towards Union Street from the Springfield and Mattis area.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned black male, and was last seen wearing a black hat, red/white windbreaker, and blue pants.

Two Separate Thefts in the City of Champaign 11/03/2025
November 03, 2025

On June 29, 2025, a suspect stole a tip jar containing an unspecified amount of cash from a restaurant located in the 700 Block of South Sixth Street in Champaign. The suspect fled on a bicycle and was not found. Surveillance footage from the area captured images of the suspect.

On October 22, 2025, a suspect matching the description of the tip jar thief stole a bicycle from the 600 Block of South Mathews Avenue by cutting the lock and removing it from the bike rack. The suspect fled on the stolen bicycle and was not found. Surveillance footage in the area captured images of the suspect.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as an unknown male, approximately 19 to 25 years old, with shoulder-length dreadlocks. He was wearing a red/white/blue jacket, red pants, and carrying a red backpack

Working Fire- Posted 10/27/2025
October 27, 2025

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a working fire.
 
On October 17, 2025, at approximately 2:30 PM, the Champaign County Sheriff's Office, along with Ludlow Fire Department and multiple other fire units, responded to a structure fire at the Triangle Mobile Home Park, located just south of Ludlow.

Upon arrival, first responders found multiple mobile homes fully engulfed in flames. In total, 11 trailers were destroyed by the fire.

Preliminary investigation indicates the fire may have involved human activity. Police are actively seeking information and asking anyone with surveillance cameras to review the footage for any suspicious persons or vehicles captured in the area around the time of the fire and/or anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious to contact Crime Stoppers.


Aggravated Battery - 10/20/25
October 20, 2025

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding an aggravated battery.

On September 16, 2025, at approximately 5:35 p.m., a man boarded an MTD bus at Walmart, 100 South High Cross Road in Urbana. Once on board, the suspect made unwanted physical contact with an occupant on the bus, touching them for several minutes until arriving at his destination.
 
The suspect exited the bus at Washington Street and Second Street in Champaign. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate him. Follow-up efforts at Walmart did not result in a positive identification.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male with a mustache and medium build, approximately 5’6” tall. He was last seen wearing a blue Tshirt, gray pants, white tennis shoes, and a red Chicago Bulls hat with a white flat bill.

Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property in Rantoul - Posted 10/13/25

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a burglary and criminal damage to property.

On September 17, 2025,officers responded to Twice The Ice Shop, located at 1006 E Grove Ave. in Rantoul for a check building report. When officers arrived, they found the exterior lock had been cut overnight and entry was made into the office area of the business. Once inside the unknown individual damaged property and removed cash from the office.

The offender was described as an average-build, white male, between thirty and forty years of age, with a tattoo on his left forearm. He was last seen wearing a black tank top, black pants, and Croc-style shoes. The subject was also wearing a black or brown camouflage hat and using a red bandana to cover his face.

Bank Robbery in Champaign - Posted 10/6/2025

On September 24, 2025, at approximately 11:07 a.m., an unknown male entered Clock Tower Community Bank, located at 1001 South Neil Street in Champaign, and demanded money. An undisclosed amount of currency was handed over and the male fled on foot.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as an unknown male wearing a black face mask, all black clothing, and black hair. The male left in an unknown direction

Homicide in Champaign - Posted 9/30/2025
September 30, 2025

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a homicide investigation.
 
On August 27, 2025, at approximately 6:14 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of North State Street between Tremont and Maple Streets in Champaign for the report of a man down. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive gunshot victim next to the railroad tracks west of State Street near North Prairie Street. The victim was identified as 45-year-old Michael Huffman and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
 
The initial investigation indicated the victim was believed to have been deceased for several hours. Investigators seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect(s) involved in this incident.
 
Police are asking any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance cameras and/or persons with cell phone video to review the footage for any suspicious persons or vehicles captured in the area around the time of the incident. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.


Aggravated Assault in Champaign - Posted 9/22/25
September 22, 2025

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding an aggravated assault.
 
On Monday, September 8th, 2025 around 11:33 a.m., an unknown male suspect approached the victims while they were unloading their car in the parking lot of 512 South Neil Street in Champaign. The suspect made threats and screamed at them. Bystanders assisted the victim, and the suspect left the area.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a White male approximately 30 to 45 years of age, 5’11– 6’1, and 175 to 200lbs. The male is bald and has a beard, and was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, black backpack, and carrying a black ball cap.

Retail Theft in Champaign - Posted 9/15/25

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.

On August 21 at 12:15 p.m., two male subjects stole power tools from Home Depot, located at 820 Bloomington Road in Champaign. Officers learned one male attempted to distract a store associate while the other pushed out a flatbed cart carrying two DeWalt Power Washers valued at $1,400.

The males loaded the stolen merchandise into what appeared to be a tan Jeep Grand Cherokee. The suspects were described as two black males, the first suspect described as wearing a black ballcap with short hair and beard, a green t-shirt and blue sweatpants. The second suspect had medium-length hair and was wearing sunglasses, an orange t-shirt, and blue jeans.

Aggravated Assault in Urbana - Posted 9/8/25
September 08, 2025

On August 29, 2025, at approximately 7:58 p.m., officers responded to a reported aggravated battery at McDonald’s located in the 600 block of North Cunningham Avenue in Urbana. A customer became irate after staff could not locate his online order. When an employee attempted to assist, the suspect forcibly grabbed the food from him, spilling it, and then threw a drink on the employee before fleeing the scene.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-30s, approximately 5’6” to 5’9”, 170 lbs., with braids in a bun, wearing black glasses, a grey long-sleeved shirt, and black pants. The information for the order was under the name "Velly."

Burglary to Motor Vehicle and Credit Card Fraud- Posted 9/2/25

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a burglary to motor vehicle and credit card fraud.
 
On August 18, 2025, between 9–11:30 a.m., an unknown offender forced entry into a vehicle on the University of Illinois campus parked in lot F31 near St. Mary’s Road and South Lincoln Avenue in Urbana. The suspect(s) stole the victim’s credit/debit cards from the vehicle and shortly thereafter attempted to make fraudulent purchases totaling $1,450.00 at the Target store on North Prospect Avenue in Champaign.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. Surveillance footage from Target showed a male and female attempting to use the stolen cards. The suspects were described as follows.
 
Female suspect: White or Hispanic female, long black hair in a ponytail, wearing a white hat, black sunglasses, white skirt, black skinny tank top, carrying a Louis Vuitton monogram mini backpack.
 
Male suspect: White or Hispanic male with a stubble beard, wearing a black and white hat, gray Adidas athletic T-shirt, gray athletic shorts, and black fanny pack.

Armed Robbery - Posted 8/25/25

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding an armed robbery.
 
On August 2, 2025, at approximately 12:02 a.m., two subjects connected via a dating app and agreed to meet. A short time after they met, one subject brandished a firearm, pointed it at the other subject, and demanded money. The suspect fled with the victim’s wallet, keys, and cellphone.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in this incident. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 28-30 years old, 5’10” tall and 190 lbs. The male had short black hair and a short/thin beard. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, gray jacket, white t-shirt, and gray pants.


Aggravated Robbery in Urbana - Posted 8/18/25

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding an aggravated robbery.

On August 11 at 12:40 a.m., a suspect entered the Circle K located at 810 W. Green St. in Urbana. The individual kept one hand in his pocket, simulating possession of a weapon, and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied, and the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a black male of unknown age with a slender build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black mask, gray sweatpants, white socks, and dark-colored slides featuring white stripes across the top. He was last seen fleeing southwest from the gas station.

Theft in Champaign - Posted 8/11/2025

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a theft.

On July 25, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., a theft occurred at Campus Mobile Solutions at 616 East Green Street in Champaign. Upon arrival, officers learned the offender moved the surveillance camera when the employee went to the back room. The offender then reached over the counter and took an undisclosed amount of currency from the cash register.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect appeared to be a black male, approximately 18-25 years old, with a slight mustache. He was last seen wearing a blue Chicago Bulls hat, blue “Skyline Hotel” shirt, black pants, and white shoes with blue soles.

Burglary with Criminal Damage in Ogden - Posted 8/4/2025

On July 24, 2025, in the early morning, two suspects forced entry into Rich’s Restaurant at 305 West Ellen Street in Ogden. The suspects attempted to pry open gaming machines within the restaurant but were unsuccessful. The subjects fled with an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. One subject was seen wearing a black hat, tan face covering, brown long sleeve shirt, black sweatpants with white lettering, and black shoes. The other subject was seen wearing a black stocking cap, black face mask with white lettering, black long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and brown boots.

Retail Theft in Champaign - Posted 7/28/25
July 28, 2025

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.
 
On March 15, 2025, at approximately 3:54 p.m., two males entered Walmart at 2610 North Prospect Avenue in Champaign. One male selected a single item from the hardware department and walked out without making payment. The second suspect selected an entire cart full of groceries before heading to the self-checkout lanes. The male scanned and bagged the items, pretended to make payment, then made a quick dash to the vehicle where the first male was waiting. The two males threw the groceries into the trunk and fled with nearly $600.00 in stolen merchandise.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The suspects were described as white males in their 30’s. The first suspect was last seen wearing all black clothing and a black t-shirt with a white design on the front. The second suspect was wearing a black baseball cap, black/white long-sleeved shirt under a gray t-shirt, black jeans, and black/white sneakers. The suspects fled in a red Chevrolet Cobalt.

Theft of Motor Vehicle and Attempted Theft in Urbana - Posted 7/21/25

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a theft of motor vehicle and numerous attempted thefts.

Between May 2 and July 17, 2025, during the early morning hours, individuals entered several parked vehicles in the Orchard Downs area in Urbana. The individuals attempted to steal several vehicles and successfully stole one.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying two of the suspects captured on video. One suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, shiny black pants, and white shoes. The other suspect was wearing a grey or white hooded sweatshirt with black lettering on the left arm, black pants, and white shoes.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle in the City of Champaign -Posted 7/14/25

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a burglary to motor vehicle, aggravated discharge of firearm, and criminal damage.

On June 20, 2025, at approximately 2:45 a.m., a male subject was caught breaking into a vehicle by the vehicle owner in the 500 block of Westlawn Avenue in Champaign. The victim/vehicle owner confronted the suspect and as the suspect fled, he turned and began shooting at the victim. There was property damage to two homes but no injuries.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect from this incident. The suspect was described as a taller, thin black male wearing all dark clothing.



Burglary to Motor Vehicles- Posted 7/7/24
July 07, 2025

On May 06, 2025, at approximately 5:00 AM, a male entered several parked vehicles in the 900 block of South Third Street in Champaign. Officers learned that several items were stolen from two of the vehicles. The value of the stolen items has not yet been determined.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a light-skinned black male wearing a black jacket over a gray hooded sweater. The sweater’s hood was pulled up over their head and they were wearing black pants and black shoes.
