Yakima, WA- On Sunday, October 12th, 2025 Washington State Patrol received a report of a deceased body that was located along State Route 97 near milepost 71 north of Wapato, WA. Troopers, Yakima County Sheriff’s Deputies and Yakama Nation Tribal Police responded. The deceased was determined to be a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle.

Further investigation has revealed the collision happened in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 11th, 2025 between the hours of 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM. Parts from the suspect vehicle were left at the scene. The vehicle may have damage to the front end along either the driver or passenger side to include the headlight/turn signal and possibly the hood. The vehicle is gray or silver in color.

WSP Detectives are seeking anyone that may have seen a vehicle stopped on the side of the highway outside of Wapato during the early morning hours of Saturday, October 11th, 2025 or anyone with information that could help identify the suspect vehicle or the occupants of the suspect vehicle.
