On Sunday, August 23, 2026, at approximately 12:01 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress inside of 842 Rockaway Avenue, within the confines of the 73 Precinct. Upon arrival, officers observed a 44-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the head and a 39-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the leg. EMS responded and transported both victims to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where the 44-year-old male was later pronounced deceased. The 39-year-old male is listed in stable condition. There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing

On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at approximately 12:16 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a commercial robbery inside of 143 East 149 Street, within the confines of the 44 Precinct. Upon arrival, officers were informed that a 33-year-old male was approached by an unidentified individual who displayed a firearm and discharged it multiple times, striking the victim in the chest. The individual forcibly removed an unknown amount of currency from behind the register before fleeing the location. EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln in stable condition. There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
