Vandalism on Douglas Highway
January 13, 2012

On 12-19-2011, a citizen called JPD to report damage to her vehicle which was parked along Douglas Hwy near John St overnight. When she went to her unlocked vehicle in the morning she realized it had been entered and the glove box opened. Additionally, the front seat was intentionally burned, however, the fire did not spread to the rest of the car.



Vandalism on S. Franklin Street
January 06, 2012

On November 1st, 2011, a citizen reported to the Juneau Police Dept. that a door had been ripped off of the building in the 400 block of S. Franklin. The door had been used to secure an electrical meter box on the side of a building. The door was wooden and the hinges had been ripped off.



Burglary at GW Teals
December 30, 2011

On 12-9-11 at about 0500 hours, JPD responded to GW Teals on Mendenhall Mall Road for a report of a broken window. An investigation revealed the business had been burglarized sometime during the early morning hours and an undisclosed amount of cash had been taken.



Fuel Thefts
December 16, 2011

Since the end of November, 2011, the Juneau Police Dept. has received various reports of fuel thefts from vehicles and homes. On November 29th, a resident reported the fuel from the tank of his truck was removed during the night while parked in the 3600 block of Amalga St.

On December 4th JPD received a report that an unknown person stole a total of four, 5 gallon gas cans from his residence in the 9800 block of Nine Mile Creek Rd in North Douglas. Two of the cans were full of gasoline. Additionally, the suspect siphoned about 25 gallons of home heating fuel from his home fuel tank.

On December 5th, 2011, JPD received a report from a citizen in the 6200 block of Glacier Hwy that fuel had been siphoned from 3 vehicles over night that were parked in a parking lot.

Total value of the fuel is about $275 in all cases.



Burglary on Fritz Cove Road
November 11, 2011

On Oct 4, 2011 at about 11:00 a.m., JPD responded to a burglary in the 2200 block of Fritz Cove Road. Investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) had broken into the residence through a rear window and taken several items from the home. They included a wall mounted bear rug, a large flat screen TV, clothing and three firearms. Total value about $3,400.

Theft at Dimond Park Aquatic Center
October 28, 2011

On 10-03-11, JPD received a report of an I Phone that was stolen from a locker at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center. The phone was stolen between about 4:00 and 5:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30. The phone was white in color.



Vandalism at Kennedy-Adair Memorial Park
October 21, 2011

On October 3rd, at about 9 a.m., staff for the Kennedy-Adair Memorial Park called JPD to report vandalism to the restrooms and a park bench. Unknown subjects had torn light fixtures out, knocked stall doors off their hinges and dismantled a park bench nearby. Total damage is estimated at about $500.



Assault and Burglary on Distin St.
October 14, 2011

On May 3rd, 2011 at approximately 1:00 am, the Juneau Police Department
received a report of a Robbery the caller said had just occurred on Distin St.
downtown.

The caller said there were four subjects involved, 3 males & 1 female, all
wearing hooded sweatshirts. The caller said the suspects had all run away
from the area.

Officers responded and located a 61 year old local male inside his apartment in
the 300 Block of Distin St. The male said he was sleeping in his apartment
and he awoke to someone punching him. He said he had no enemies, no valuables,
and had no idea who had assaulted him.

Vehicle Arson at Douglas Harbor
September 30, 2011

On August 28th, 2011 at about 0318 a.m., the Juneau Police Department and
Capital City Fire Rescue responded to a report of a vehicle that was on fire near
the Douglas boat harbor. Investigation revealed a 1997 Subaru Legacy had
been destroyed by a suspicious fire. The vehicle was completely destroyed.

Floyd Dryden Middle School Burglary
September 23, 2011

On August 14, 2011 at about 0700 hours, a burglary was discovered at the
Floyd Dryden Middle School. Unknown suspect (s) had entered the school
illegally and removed several violins. The violins were located a short distance
from the school but damaged beyond repair totaling about $6,000.

Vehicle Arson in Douglas
September 16, 2011

On 06-17-11 at about 0209 a.m., the Juneau Police Dept. and Capital City Fire
Rescue responded to a vehicle fire in the 1500 block of 5th St. in Douglas. On
arrival, emergency responders located a 1986 Ford pickup fully engulfed in
flames. The flames were also in danger of igniting a nearby home. The vehicle
had not been driven for several weeks and the fire is considered suspicious in
nature.

Mailbox Vandalism in the Valley
September 09, 2011

On August 3rd, 2011, JPD received several reports of mailbox’s that were
intentionally damaged in the area of Montana Creek/Back Loop and Duran St.
Subjects had intentionally knocked mailboxes off their posts and in some cases
broken down the posts altogether. Damage is estimated at several hundred
dollars total.

Vandalism at Duck Creek Market
September 02, 2011

On July 29, 2011, JPD responded to Duck Creek Market on Stephen Richards
Memorial Drive to investigate a vandalism. Investigation revealed that at about
3:30 a.m., two unknown subjects had thrown multiple rocks at a front window
of the business causing the window to shatter. A video surveillance camera
shows the suspects to be males about in their mid teens.

Home Heating Fuel Theft at Sunset St.
August 26, 2011

On August 3rd, 2011, JPD investigated the theft of home heating fuel from an
address on Sunset St. Investigation showed an unknown person had removed
the cap on the fuel fill tube of a 250 gallon tank and taken approximately 50
gallons of diesel.

Burglary at Auke Bay Bible Church
August 19, 2011

On August 4, 2011, JPD investigated a burglary at Auke Bay Bible Church
near 12 mile Glacier Hwy. Unknown suspect(s) made entry into the church and
forcibly opened a safe containing an undetermined amount of cash. The cash
was stolen.


The burglary was committed during the night and discovered in the morning
hours of August 4th.



Theft on Jennifer Drive
August 12, 2011

On June 21st, 2011 the Juneau Police Dept. received a report that a 12” Volvo
toothed excavator bucket had been stolen from a work site at Jennifer Drive.
The bucket is valued at about $800 and was stolen sometime in the middle of
May, 2011.

Burglary at Stephen Richards Dr.
August 05, 2011

On June 27, 2011 the Juneau Police Dept. received a report from a resident at a trailer at 9950 Stephen Richards Dr that his locked trailer had been forcibly entered while he was away for several weeks and someone was living in the residence. The suspect had stolen various items including aluminum four wheeler ramps, the furnace, lawn mower, microwave, light fixtures and various kitchen items from the home. A suspect had been seen in the home and was described as a native male about 30 years old and 5’9” tall.

Graffiti on S. Franklin St.
July 29, 2011

On June 24th, 2011, the Juneau Police Dept received four reports of graffiti on
various businesses in the 400 block of S. Franklin St. A business occupant had
heard a suspicious noise outside the building at about 1:00 a.m. that morning
and provided a description of two suspects.

One subject was described as having a medium green hooded coat with stripes.
He also was carrying a light blue backpack and wearing a dark stocking cap.
The second subject was wearing a black/white horizontal large striped hoody.



Car Riflings
July 22, 2011

During the month of June, the Juneau Police Dept. has received at least 40
reports of vehicles that were illegally entered and property taken from them.
The car rifling’s occurred borough wide. Most cars were entered during late
evening/early morning hours and were unlocked.

Theft on S. Franklin Street
July 15, 2011

On June 16, 2011 at about 5:20 p.m., the Juneau Police Dept investigated a
theft of a Blackberry cell phone in the area of the 100 block of S. Franklin St.
The victim said he and a friend were standing on the sidewalk when a male
unknown to them asked to use his Blackberry cell phone. When he allowed the
person to use it, the person left the area on foot and was unable to be located.

The suspect was described as a white male, about 18 years old, 5’6” wearing a
black coat and had an Alaskan backpack.
