On April 25
th, 2012, at about 1:12 p.m., a citizen from Harbor Plumbing in the 10000 block of Glacier Hwy reported the business was forcibly entered and items taken. The items included a Dewalt gas powered compressor, socket wrench sets, airbrush kit, and various power tools.The vehicle was eventually located and recovered in the parking lot of the Airport Mini Mall. The vehicle had 3 of the 4 seat belts cut out of it.
Over the weekend of April 28th, 2012, JPD received several reports of vehicles entered and items stolen from the area of Sunshine Cove at about the 35000 block of Glacier Hwy. Stolen were purses, wallets, large amounts of DVD movies, iPods, cell phones, digital camera, and maroon Dell laptop.
The vehicles were unlocked. One witness saw a blue Sport Utility Vehicle in the area and believed it may have been involved.
On March 25, 2012 at about 1:30 a.m., JPD received a report of a burglary in progress at Mystic Treasures on N. Franklin St. The caller reported there were 2 subjects. One was described as wearing a black knit hat, black jacket and black pants. The other had a black jacket. Both were white males.
Investigation revealed a front glass window was shattered and entry was made into the business. Stolen were about 50 glass smoking pipes of various designs worth about $2,000 and hundreds of dollars in cash.
On April 7
th, 2012 at about 2:15 p.m., a citizen called JPD to report his Toyota truck had been entered and items stolen while it was parked in a public parking lot at the 9400 block of Glacier Hwy over the prior 3 days. Taken were a machete that was about 18" long, a can of bear spray and Alpine stereo face plate.On April 2
nd, 2012, JPD received a report of two stolen lap tops from a business at Merchants Wharf on Marine Way. The victim complained that between 12:30 and 4:00 p.m. that day, he had two lap tops taken from the lobby of a business.The laptops are described as an Acer Aspire 1 and a metallic brown Hewlett Packard DV 6.
On April 6
th, 2012 at about 1232 p.m., an employee from Western Auto called JPD to report a male just left the store after taking a jacket and a DVD player without paying for them. The male got into an older white car that was smoking heavily from the tail pipe and left the area.The items taken were a blue Carhart jacket and Sylvania DVD player. The witness was unable to provide a description of the suspect except he was male.
On 04-03-12, a citizen from the 9000 block of N. Douglas Hwy called JPD to report he had about 350 gallons of heating fuel oil stolen from his fuel tank some time of the previous 4 weeks. The locking gas cap was not properly secured.
On March 31
st, 2012, the Juneau Police Dept. received a report of a robbery that occurred at about 1:15 a.m. at the corner of Glacier Hwy and Belardi Dr. The victim approached three males in a bus stop and conversed with them when two of the males began to repetitively assault the victim which knocked him to the ground. The males took cash and other personal items from the victim and fled the area.The males were described as about 25-35 years of age, about 6 feet tall and darker skinned males with a medium build and unknown clothing description.
On 03-11-12 at about 5:00 a.m., the Juneau Police Department received a report of a robbery at the Driftwood Hotel in the 400 block of Willoughby Ave. The investigation revealed that a man walked into the business and demanded an unspecified amount of money from the victim. When the victim refused to provide the money the man lifted his shirt and grabbed what appeared, to the victim, to be a knife hidden in the suspect’s waistband. The victim told the man to "stop" and gave the man over $500 in cash. After the suspect received the stolen money he fled the scene on foot and later possibly in a vehicle.
The victim described the suspect as a white male in late 20’s or early 30’s, about 5’6" to 5’7" feet tall, and weighing between 185 and 215 pounds. The suspect was also described as having some facial hair.
On March 1
st, 2012, a citizen from the 400 block of I Street in Douglas reported damage to her van. The van had been parked in the driveway of the owner’s residence. A rear window had been smashed out sometime during the afternoon and items inside the vehicle were strewn around, however, nothing was taken. Damage is estimated at about $367.On February 27th, 2012, an employee from the Juneau Douglas High School reported to JPD that a glass window to the metal shop had been broken sometime over the previous night. The window had been shattered causing about $1,000 damage. A rock had been used to break the window.
On January 12, 2012 at about 0906 hours, JPD responded to the Home Depot to investigate the theft of two Dewalt drills. The complainant said a suspect entered the store, took the drills and walked out of the store without paying for them.
The suspect is described as a native male, about 5’ 9", scruffy beard and wearing a black Carhartt jacket. The suspect drove away in a white box truck with windows on the back.
On January 4
th, 11th and 17th the Juneau Police Dept. received a report of several storage units being broken into on Shaune Drive and the 5700 block of Glacier Hwy in the Lemon Creek area. Investigation revealed that a suspect(s) had forcibly entered various storage units. Some of the units were interior units and once inside, the suspect damaged several of the storage units by the doors being forced open or door jams pried open.Some of the storage units had items taken including 2 pair of Black Diamond Telemark skis, size 29 red Garmont “Voodoo” ski boots, Simms size 13 “Pro” Wader wading boots, Epson flatbed scanner, pair of Russian “Cossack” womens horse riding boots and decorative paper umbrellas from Thailand.
On 1-25-12 at about 1225 hours, JPD received a report of a theft from the 3500 block of Riverside Dr. The victim had a $700 Dewalt chop saw stolen from an unsecure home construction site. The Saw was taken on January 21st and is described as having an 8 1/2" blade.
On February 4th, 2012 at about 8 p.m., a resident in the 8500 block of Marilyn Ave. called JPD to report she just arrived home and when she walked into her house she startled a burglar. The suspect realized the resident was home and ran through the house and out a door, fleeing the area on foot.
The home owner immediately called 911 and officers responded. The suspect attempted to take various jewelry and electronics. The suspect was described as male, about 5’ 10" tall with a light colored top. He was not located in the area.
On December 30, 2011 at about 5:47 P.M., Juneau Police Dept. officers
responded to A & P Market on Willoughby Ave for a reported theft. A store employee reported a male took a case of Red Bull energy drink, put it over his shoulder and walked out of the store without paying for it. The employee chased the subject to the area of Whittier St. but was unable to stop him.The suspect is described as a white male, about 6’2”-6’3”, 180 pounds, 18-21
years of age, short black hair with a black hoody.JPD received a report from a resident near the 6000 block of Montgomery Street on Dec. 28 saying all four tires on her vehicle were slashed while it was parked overnight. Total damage is estimated at $900.
JPD has received multiple reports of tire slashings in the Juneau area in recent weeks.
On December 27
th, 2011, JPD received a report of vandalism at Rotary Park on Riverside Dr. Further investigation revealed unknown subject(s) had spray painted Swastika’s on a bench and garbage can in the park causing about $50 damage.| Page 16 of 20 | 395 Records | Prev | Next |
