Assault
July 24, 2020

The Ontario Provincial Police in Espanola and Crime Stoppers are still seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an assault.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday March 6th, 2019 officers from the Espanola Detachment responded to an assault on Old Webbwood Road in the Town of Espanola.

The victim was operating a taxi when the fare he was transporting assaulted him.  The suspect who fled the scene, is described as a male, approximately 5’7”, medium build and had his face and head covered at the time of the offence.



Arson
March 03, 2020

Crime Stoppers and the Manitoulin OPP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the parties responsible for 2 residential fires.

On February 28, 2020 at around 7:37 p.m., officers of the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police and Robinson Township Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Highway 540 in Robinson Township.  Upon arrival, the residence was found burned to the ground and the fire to be suspicious.

Later on the same date at 10:35 p.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police with the assistance of the Gore Bay and Billings Township Fire Departments responded to a second structure fire on Nelson Road in Gordon Township.  Another residence had been burned to the ground with similar circumstances.

Luckily the residences were unoccupied at the time of the fires. The OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), the Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit and the Ontario Fire Marshall (OFM) are continuing with the investigation.

 



Theft

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a person or persons with relation to theft.

During the late fall months and into February, there have been numerous thefts into Canada Post roadside mail boxes.  Incidents occurred throughout the city.  Unknown culprits attended the mail boxes during the early morning hours and forced open the mail slots, to take whatever mail was within, including the packages and boxes.    The culprits attended some locations numerous times. 

Any information leading to the identification of these culprits would be greatly appreciated.



Break, Enter and Theft
November 12, 2019

Crime Stoppers and the Espanola OPP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a Break, Enter and Theft.

Sometime between October 27th and October 29th, suspects broke into a shed at a residence situated on James Street in Espanola.

Once inside the shed, culprits stole a motorcycle.

The motorcycle is described as a white and orange 2018 KTM Enduro 690 R with a black tank bag.

The value of the stolen property is estimated to be approx. $17,000.

Break, Enter and Theft

Crime Stoppers and the West Nipissing OPP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a Break Enter and Theft.

Between Friday, October 4th and Monday, October 7th, culprits attended a quarry off of Highway 575 in Verner and broke into a sea container.

There were over 100 items stolen from the container which included:

A Sweeney Torque ampliflier,  100 feet of welding cable, and an assortment of machinery and tools.

The value of the stolen property is estimated to be $20,000.

Break enter and commit
October 15, 2019

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect involved in a break and enter.

On the 18th of September at about 6am, an unknown culprit attended at a retail establishment on Notre Dame Avenue near Bond Street.  The culprit proceeded to smash the glass door to gain access to the vestibule; then forced the second glass door open.  The culprit did steal property from within the business.  The male party is described as wearing a dark hooded jacket, a white and red ball cap, a light colored turtleneck, black pant with a stripe along the side and gloves.  He was wearing dark runners with a white sole.

Any information leading to the identity of this male would be appreciated.

Theft of RV

Crime Stoppers and the Nipissing West OPP are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a Theft incident.

Sometime between the evening of September 11 and the evening of September 13, unknown culprit(s) stole a travel trailer from a storage property located on Alouette Road in Lavigne, Ontario.

The recreational vehicle (RV) is described as a 41 foot 2014 Sandpiper fifth-wheel camper, beige in colour with some brown, bearing Ontario plate N3287W.  It also has a small dent on the rear bumper, near the ladder. 

The estimated value of the stolen property is approximately $82,000 dollars.

Theft of trailer

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspects with relation to a theft. 

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday September 10th, culprits attended an automotive repair facility in the south end of Sudbury and stole a 2007 29ft long enclosed trailer.  The trailer is very distinctive and has a military montage on one side of it and The Rock Harley Davidson on the other.  The trailer is an event trailer and had a large quantity of merchandise within.  The trailer is set up like a retail store with shelving, peg boards and cabinets.  

The value of the trailer and merchandise exceeds $ 300 000.

Vehicle Fire - Manitoulin
September 16, 2019

Crime Stoppers and the Manitoulin OPP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect or suspects with relation to a vehicle fire.

At approximately 7:40 pm, on September 10th, police were dispatched to a vehicle fire in a gravel pit near highway 540 in Robinson Township near Silver Lake.

Once at the scene, officers found the vehicle abandoned, unattended and fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished with the assistance of the Silver Water Fire Department.

The vehicle was completed destroyed by the fire and is believed to be a Dodge Journey.

OPP Manitoulin – Break, Enter & Theft & Mischief

Crime Stoppers and the Manitoulin OPP are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a Break, Enter and Theft and Mischief incident.

 

Sometime during the evening of July 30th, unknown suspects attended the Frood dam situated near Lawson’s Quarry on the east side of Highway 6 in Whitefish Falls.

Using a grinder, culprits removed two stop logs which control the water level from the Dam and tossed them over into the water. Suspects then broke into a storage shed and stole two overhead hoists.

 

The hoists are described as CM “S” Cyclone Hand Chain Hoists – Red in Color, rated for 2 ton with 30 feet of hoist chain.

 

The estimated value of the stolen property and mischief is approximately $5,000 dollars.

Break, Enter and Theft

Crime Stoppers and the Warren OPP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspect(s) with relation to a break, enter and theft. 

Sometime between April 8th and April 20th, unknown suspect(s) attended a cabin situated in a remote location off Highway 805, in Afton Twp. near Emerald Lake Camp.

Two 2000 watt EU inverter Honda generators, red in colour, were taken from the cabin and a yellow 20 litre gas container, half full, was taken from outside at the generator shack.

The value of the stolen property is estimated to be $3,500.

Break Enter and Theft
May 29, 2019

It is alleged that between 4 pm on Monday May 13th and 10 am on May 14th culprits entered the shared office spaces for 2 non-profit agencies located on Elm St.   From the one office, electronics were taken and from the other office a safe containing a large sum of money.

The estimated value of the stolen items and cash is over $20,000.  Any information leading to the identity of the culprits would be appreciated.



Theft of Boat - Manitoulin Island

Crime Stoppers and the Manitoulin OPP detachment are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspect(s) with relation to a theft.

Sometime between May 8th and May 12th, culprits attended a property situated on Highway 540 and stole a boat, motor and trailer.

The stolen property is described as a white 2002 Starcraft Aurora deck boat, a black four stroke 115 HP Mercury motor and a white 2002 EZ Loader boat trailer.

The value of the theft is estimated to be approximately $18,000.

Arson
May 15, 2019

The Greater Sudbury Police Service and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect(s) with relation to arson.

On the 9th of April at about 8:20 pm, Fire Services attended to a residence on Romeo St in Val Caron which was on fire.  Police were contacted due to the suspicious nature of the fire.  This incident is believed to have been deliberate and is considered arson.  It appears that the culprits accessed the home through a window.

Any information in regard to the suspects would be appreciated. The estimated value of the damage to the home is $200 000. 



Theft of dough machine
April 10, 2019

It is alleged that between 9 pm on March 23rd and 11:30 am on March 24th culprit(s) attended at a commercial establishment located on Beech St and took an industrial dough machine which was left locked outside of the building overnight.   The machine is described at about 2 feet by 2 feet and about 4 feet tall, made of white industrial metal and weighs about 300 lbs. 

The estimated value of the equipment is between $20 000 and $40 000.

Theft of cable
March 22, 2019

It is alleged that between 4:00 and 5:00 AM on March 16th, culprit(s) attended the Sewage Lift Station located on Laurier St in Azilda.  The culprits cut 50 feet of industrial generator cable including 4 heavy duty connectors.  The cable was connected to a generating station that pushes 600 volts through that same wire as required by the lift station, culprit(s) were fortunate that it was not doing so at the time of the theft.

The value of the stolen property is about $ 4 000, however, the value of the copper will be no more than $100.



Break, Enter & Theft - French River
December 31, 2018

The Ontario Provincial Police and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspects with relation to a break, enter and theft. 

It is alleged that sometime between 11 pm on December 8th and 3 am on December 9th, culprits broke into and ransacked a camp located on Hartley Bay Rd., off Hwy. 69 in the Municipality of the French River.  They also broke into a camper trailer and a sleep camp located on the same property.  Suspects caused severe damage to the camps and the RV.  They then stole an antique Yamaha acoustic guitar, a pellet gun, tool boxes, hand & power tools, batteries and chargers.

The estimated value of the stolen property and the mischief is approximately $8,000.

Break, Enter & Theft-Watershed Restaurant
December 24, 2018

The Ontario Provincial Police and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect with relation to a break, enter and theft.

It is alleged that sometime between 3:00 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. on December 16th, the culprit broke into the Watershed Restaurant located on Highway 144.  Once inside, the suspect stole several packages of cigarettes and some lighters. 

The male suspect is described as heavy set, wearing a camouflage with brown jacket, blue jeans, camouflage gloves and a balaclava. 

The estimated value of the stolen property is $3,000.

Any information on the identity of the suspect involved in this incident would be greatly appreciated.

Theft - Municipality of Markstay-Warren

The Ontario Provincial Police and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspect(s) with relation to a theft. 

It is alleged that sometime between November 16th and November 19th, culprits attended a construction site located on Highway 17 just west of Hagar in the Municipality of Markstay-Warren and stole two portable fuel buggies. 

The trailers are homemade, 10 feet long, black in colour with a red square metal fuel container situated on top.  Stickers with the company name “Castonguay” along with the word “Flammable” and a hazardous material placard with number 1202 are written on both sides of the containers.  Each container was identified by a unit number.

The estimated value of the stolen property is approximately $19,000.

Arsons - Espanola
December 11, 2018

The Ontario Provincial Police and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspect(s) with relation to arson.

It is alleged that shortly after midnight on September 18th, culprit(s) set fire to a vacant home located on Queensway Street in the Town of Espanola.  Suspects also committed mischief by spray painting graffiti on the rear and side of the house. 

Then, shortly after midnight on November 7th, culprits again set fire to the same vacant home on Queensway Street.

Any information on the identity of the suspects involved in this incident would be greatly appreciated.
