Robbery
February 11, 2022

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to an allegation of robbery.

At about 11 am on the 27th of November, our victim was leaving a financial establishment and they approached the area of the New Sudbury library. A lone male party approached and after a struggle, the culprit stole a handbag.

A male party was later observed on video, attempting to use the victim’s card.  The culprit is described as in his twenties, maybe thirties, wearing a baseball cap with a yellow and white emblem and dark pants with a design on the thigh. He is seen wearing a Champion Hoody.



Break and Enter
December 13, 2021

Crime Stoppers and the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to an allegation of break, enter and theft.

An incident occurred at General Outdoors Store located on Front St in Spanish.  Upon arrival at the business on the 27th of November, it was discovered that sometime since closing the previous day, culprits attended and broke into the premises.  Taken were various outdoor items such as snowsuits, hoodies, coats and helmets, along with other property. 

The estimated value of the loss is just under $20,000.

Mischief
December 01, 2021

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to an allegation of mischief.

At about 7 pm on Sunday, the 21st of November, police responded to a traffic complaint.   Parties had gathered in their vehicles on a lot located on Edison Rd in Falconbridge.  Some of the group proceeded to do donuts and race on the property, causing extensive damage to the grounds.  This lot is private property. 

The extent of the damage is undetermined at this time.

Robbery
November 12, 2021

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to an allegation of a robbery.

Just before 2 am on the 26th of September, police received a call from a citizen, in regard to a robbery that had just occurred near Harman St and Vanier Lane.   The citizen was walking on Pine Street and was assaulted by 2 armed males.  The citizen suffered a cut lip and their backpack and cell phone were taken. Both are described as Indigenous, one male possibly, in his 50’s and one about 40 yrs of age, 5’10” wearing a black hoodie with white sleeves.  Both had raspy voices.

Any information on these individuals would be appreciated.



Arson
October 15, 2021

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to an allegation of arson.

At about 2 am on the 26th of September, a fire broke out in a truck parked in its driveway, on Sixth Avenue in Lively, igniting the garage.  Two residences were damaged by the fire, but no one was injured.   Police attended at the request of the Fire Department, as the truck fire was suspicious in nature. 

The estimated value of the damaged properties is undetermined at this time.  Police are seeking any information in regard to this incident.



Theft of Jewelry
September 22, 2021

Between the hours of 2 pm and 2:45 on the 4th of September, a male party describe as in his 20s, 5ft 6 to 5 ft 8, blond wearing jeans and a blue polo shirt, attended two jewelry stores in the New Sudbury Center and attempted to steal gold chains.  He appeared nervous and shaky when asking to look at high end merchandise, which put staff on high alert. He then attended a pawnshop on Lasalle Blvd where he successfully stole a gold chain valued at $5 000.

Mischief
September 07, 2021

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to an allegation of mischief over $5 000.

Just after 11 AM on the 12th of June, at Elm Place, an unknown culprit attended the P3 Level parking lot and threw rocks, damaging 3 large windows.  The culprit was seen to leave the area through an external staircase, which exits in the laneway beside the Ste Anne des Pins church, at the end of Beech Street.

The estimated value of the property damage is over $30 000.



Mischief over $5000
August 27, 2021

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to an allegation of mischief over $ 5 000.

At about 3:50 on the morning of March 22nd , an unidentified couple was captured on video trying to access a parking pay Station located at Elm Place, off of Ste Anne’s Rd.   The culprits were a male and female.  He is described of average height with a mustache and goatee or beard, she is described as a blonde, average height.  

The estimated value of the property damage is over $20 000.

Break Enter and Theft

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to a break, enter and theft.

At about 5:30 on the morning of August 8th, an unidentified culprit attended a retail outlet located on Lorne St near Quinn Street and broke a window with an object.  The culprit then enters and exits the premise twice to take merchandise. 

The estimated value of the stolen items and damage to the property is over $2 000.

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to an allegation of theft.

Just after 10 pm on the 28th of June, a dark coloured SUV was seen attending an apartment complex on Regent Street, near York Street. It was observed stealing a 2021 14 foot Wide body Legend boat, a 20 horsepower four stroke Mercury motor and the Easy boat trailer.

The estimated value of the stolen property is $ 14 000.

Theft
June 07, 2021

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to an allegation of theft.

Sometime between 5 pm on the 13th of May and 7 am on the 14th of May, unknown suspects attended a property on Mumord Rd in Lively.  The culprits took from the property a silver trailer upon which was a 2012 black Polaris ATV, with a tote trailer, snow plow and a Yard Work lawnmower.  The trailer was parked in a fenced compound. 

The estimated value of the stolen property is just under $ 20 000.



Suspicious Fire

Crime Stoppers and the Ontario Provincial Police are seeking the public’s assistance in regard to a suspicious fire.

Members of the Noelville detachment responded to a seasonal cottage fire that took place in the early morning hours of April 28th on Turenne Road in the Municipality of French River.  The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office attended and investigated. The cause of the fire was determined to be of a suspicious nature.

The cottage was not occupied at the time and there were no injuries. Damage has been estimated to be approx. $150,000.  Any information leading to the suspect in this incident would be appreciated.



Harrassment Complaints Manitoulin Island
May 11, 2021

Crime Stoppers and the Ontario Provincial Police are seeking the public’s assistance in solving harassment Complaints.

On March 2nd,  members of the Manitoulin detachment received a complaint of letters with concerning content that were placed in the mail box of homes in Burpee / Mills Township.

On March 12th,  they again responded to a complaint of similar letters being found posted on the Assiginack Post Office bulletin board.

The message conveyed intimidating content towards new landowners and a religious community on Manitoulin Island.

Further information in regard to the person responsible would be appreciated.



Break and Enter
May 03, 2021

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to an allegation of break, enter and theft.

On the 18th of April, just after midnight, unknown suspects entered a home on Aspen Ct in Capreol.  One of the residents of the home was present and with dogs on the upper floor of the home.   The culprits did ransack the kitchen, dining and living room, all of which are on the main floor of the residence.  The property taken includes electronics and jewelry.

The estimated value of the stolen property is undetermined at this time.

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to an allegation of theft.

Sometime in the last week, unknown culprit(s) attended at Veteran’s Monument located on Horobin Street at the Parklawn cemetary.  Staff discovered that someone had broken the bolts and removed a ceremonial sword from the monument.  This sword is bronze and stands about 3 feet tall and is approximately 6 inches wide.  This sword was from World War 2.  

The estimated value of the stolen property is $2 000.

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in regards to allegations of mischiefs and thefts.

In the last few months, the Greater Sudbury Police Service has seen an increase in thefts from coin laundry facilities throughout the city.  These thefts cause significant damage to the property and do have an impact on tenants while waiting for repairs. 

Landlords are reminded to empty out their laundry machines daily, to have some security surveillance in place and if possible to consider changing to a smartcard laundry system.



Theft of Boat and Trailer
October 22, 2020

The Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s assistance in relation to a boat and trailer theft.

It is alleged that on September 1st , 2020 the Ontario Provincial Police were dispatched to a theft of boat and trailer located on Highway 540 in the Town of Evansville.   Suspect(s) transferred the trailer with the boat to another vehicle and fled the area.

The boat is described as a 2008 Bayliner 20.5 feet with a black stripe down the entire side bearing Ontario Boating Licence number ON1231134.  The trailer is described as a white single axel trailer with white fenders and Ontario licence plate number T9535K.

The approximate value of the property stolen is estimated to be $25,000.00.

MNRF - Theft
October 05, 2020

Crime Stoppers and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry are seeking the public’s assistance for information in regard to the theft of commercial fishing nets.

 Allegedly, sometime between the 1st and 20th of September, in the late afternoon, between 4 and 5:30 pm, commercial fish operators have had fishing nets and their content stolen from the Whalesback Channel.  This is in the area of the North Channel of Lake Huron.  A blue and lighter colored boat with a black motor has been observed in the area at the time of the thefts. 

The estimated value of the stolen nets and content is $ 10 000.  



Suspicious Fire
August 28, 2020

Crime Stoppers and the Greater Sudbury Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance for information about any suspicious person or vehicle with regard to a house fire.

On Tuesday, the 18th of August at about 1:45 in the morning, firefighters responded to a home, engulfed in flames on Finni Road in Wahnapitae.  Two people were in the home and one of them was transported to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.  Police are seeking information in regard to any person or vehicle that might have been in the area at the time.

There was extensive damage to the home. 



Assault
July 24, 2020

The Ontario Provincial Police in Espanola and Crime Stoppers are still seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an assault.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday March 6th, 2019 officers from the Espanola Detachment responded to an assault on Old Webbwood Road in the Town of Espanola.

The victim was operating a taxi when the fare he was transporting assaulted him.  The suspect who fled the scene, is described as a male, approximately 5’7”, medium build and had his face and head covered at the time of the offence.
