On October 22, 2022 at 12:24 AM, Tavian Petersen-Brown and his girlfriend attended a party at a home in the 1000 block of 14th Street, Rock Island. Those attending the party were primarily friends of Tavian’s girlfriend’s family members. During the party, Tavian was shot and killed by an unknown suspect. It is not known why Tavian was shot. Prior to police arrival, the majority of the people attending the party had fled the scene and those who remained could not provide much information. Tavian’s friends and family want and deserve answers. To help with that, a reward fund has been established. They are offering $2,500 and Crime Stoppers is matching that amount. On July 8, 2023 at about 5:20 pm, a male and female wearing masks entered Boost Mobile in East Moline. The female distracted the employee while the male stole two I-phone 13’s valued at over $1,400. The two are seen in a white GMC Acadia with stolen plates in the parking lot. Another female wearing a striped shirt stays with the vehicle while the theft is taking place. These suspects have also committed felony thefts in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Davenport. On May 13, 2023 at 12:30 am, this suspect stole a Traverse parked in the 1200 block of 7th Avenue, Moline. The suspect loaded up a black BMX bike (with pegs on the front and back rims) into the back of the vehicle and left eastbound on 7th Avenue. The bike appears to have a green bag attached to the front handlebars. The vehicle was located in the 800 block of 18th Avenue at around 5:00 am. The Traverse was on fire. The suspect was wearing a backward black baseball cap, black shirt, red shorts, and black shoes. During the overnight hours of Monday, March 20th into Tuesday, March 21st, 2023, an unknown male, white, suspect driving the pictured vehicle, possibly a silver Kia Forte, stole tools from a construction site at Miss Mamie’s Restaurant, 3925 16th Street, Moline. The suspect forced his way into the building and stole Dewalt power tools and batteries valued at about $1,000. A threader worth over $2,000 was also taken. The suspect loaded the tools into a wheelbarrow and took them to his vehicle, where he loaded them and left the area. April 29th is the 8-year anniversary of the suspicious death of Sam Davis. On that day in 2015, he was found deceased in the river along the bike path in Rock Island. Rock Island Police don’t know exactly how Sam died, but his bike was found in the river near his body. Investigators believe he was going to meet someone near the area where his body was located. On January 17, 2023, these two females entered Walgreens (555 19th Avenue, Moline) and walked out with $2,600 worth of perfume. They used a key to open the locked display case and removed 34 bottles. They left the area in a black hatchback sedan (possibly a Toyota Rav 4). The first suspect to enter was wearing a black jacket, white undershirt, grey leggings, white tennis shoes, and a white facemask. The second suspect was wearing a black jacket, black pants, black shoes, a black hat, and a white facemask. A Walgreens in Rock Island was the victim of a similar theft. On March 21, 2023, Walcott Police responded to a report of a burglary to a storage unit that occurred about 7:30 am. Two suspects were caught on surveillance camera. The male suspect walked along the row of storage units trying a key until he found a lock that it worked on. Once the male gained access to the rental unit, he took approximately $500 worth of Hot Wheels and Matchbox collectable cars and put them into the vehicle where a female was sitting in the driver seat. The vehicle is believed to be a 2006-2012 Toyota Corolla, which was reported to be green but appears in the photo to be blue. On Friday, March 3, 2023 at about 12:45 AM, Dimitri Martin, Age 34, was gunned down and killed in the area of Third and Ripley in Davenport. The Davenport Police Department is seeking our community’s assistance in locating any associated individuals.
With help from our community, the dark blue four door sedan believed to have been involved was located and identified as a Volkswagen Passat and was processed for evidence.

On Sunday March 5, 2023 at 12:51 am, a shooting occurred at the Riverside Smoke Shop, 2403 7 Avenue, Rock Island. At that time, the lot was full of people patronizing the store and a mobile taco stand that was set up in the parking lot. Two subjects were walking across the parking lot when it appears another subject that was either standing outside a vehicle or sitting in it fires a shot at them. They both then proceeded to draw weapons of their own and return fire. Two subjects were struck and later arrived at Unity Point for treatment of bullet wounds. On July 10, 2022 at about 7:00 am, Rock Island Police officers responded to the area of 12th Street and 10th Avenue on report of a male laying on the sidewalk. They discovered that victim Amani Kamata was deceased from gunshot wounds to his chest. Investigation revealed he was shot at around 11:30 pm on July 9th. Amani and his family migrated to the United States for a better life. His opportunity was cut short and his family deserves justice. COAL VALLEY ATTEMPTED MURDER STILL UNSOLVED - 2020-000246

One year ago, on March 11, 2020 at approximately 10:00 PM, an unknown suspect approached the front door of a home in the 1900 block of 1st Street, Coal Valley and knocked to make contact with the resident. When the occupant of the residence answered the door, the unknown suspect shot the resident in the chest. The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic or white male approximately 5’7”-5’10” tall with a slim build, dressed in a dark stocking cap, blue bandana covering his face from his eyes down, gray hooded sweatshirt with a lime green or yellow safety type vest over the sweatshirt and blue jeans. The suspect is believed to have fled the area in a waiting vehicle, identified as a red or maroon late 2000 Nissan Altima, with at least one other occupant. The Nissan fled the area southbound on 1st Street and then westbound on US Route 150. Ballistic information has also been obtained. At this time the Coal Valley Police Department continues to follow-up on all leads that continue to be generated. FAMILY STILL WANTS ANSWERS IN THIS COLD CASE FATAL HIT AND RUN - 2003-004349
October 25, 2018
On August 3, 2003 at about 1:45 a.m. Shannon Williams, Age 29, was walking in the westbound lanes of Illinois Route 5 in East Moline when he was struck by an unknown passenger car, described as a white, early 90`s model sedan; possibly an Impala, Celebrity, LeSabre, Dynasty or Electra that has a square, boxy body style. The car then fled the scene westbound on Route 5. Bystanders came from Two River`s Tavern (Now known as Chopper's) and rendered first aid to Williams, who was found lying on the north side of the westbound lanes. Another bystander attempted to follow the suspect vehicle, but lost it in traffic somewhere near Barstow Road. Williams was transported to Illini Hospital by ambulance, and was later transferred to Trinity West Medical Center, where died. The public’s help is needed to solve this 15 year old cold case. When officers arrived on scene they found Cainnan Gates, Age 34 had been murdered. This homicide is still unsolved. On January 26, 2018, Davenport Police were called to the 1300 block of Warren Street and found that 17 year old Angel Herrera had been shot. He was transported to the hospital where he died. On Wednesday June 27, Angel would have turned 18 years old. Angel’s family deserves to see justice.
