Petiru is wanted for a $25,000 Bench Warrant for Failure to Comply with the Terms and Conditions of Deferral.
On January 9, 2016 at about 2:36 a.m., an HPD Sergeant was patrolling the Kapiolani Boulevard area when he observed a moped being operated with two occupants on it. The HPD Sergeant initiated a stop on the moped at which time he observed that the moped’s ignition had been punched. Further checks revealed that the moped had been reported stolen on January 7, 2016 from the Punahou Area. The driver of the moped, later identified as Masaki Petiru, was subsequently placed under arrest for Unauthorized Control of Propelled Vehicle. While patting down Petiru after his arrest, Officer’s recovered a glass smoking pipe with whitish residue in Petiru’s pants pocket. Petiru was then also arrested for Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree and Unlawful use of Drug Paraphernalia. Petiru has no prior conviction and frequents the Honolulu area.
