On October 11, 2025 at about 5:15 in the morning, two storage units were broken into at 1505 46th Avenue, Moline. These two suspects crawled through an opening in the perimeter fence then cut the lock on one of the units to gain entry. Damage was done to the drywall between the two units and the contents of the units were ransacked and damaged. On August 2, 2023 at approximately 1:49 a.m. Rock Island Police responded to 502 6th St. Rock Island, in reference to the victim being located with a gunshot wound and not breathing. Upon arrival, officers located 21-year-old Julius Mathew deceased inside the residence. Julius was located with multiple gunshot wounds while laying on a bed. On April 23, 2025, the male pictured here used stolen credit card information at Menards in Moline for an on-line order and pick-up of a generator valued at about $1,300. He was seen leaving in a white Ford Explorer. The suspect is described as being 20-30 years old, with a short beard, wearing a gray ball cap, black long-sleeved shirt and brown overalls. The suspect also wore earing studs. The male and vehicle were involved in similar incidents at the Menards in Davenport, IA and Kewanee, IL. The victim, Catrell Reed, had been reported missing to the Kewanee Police Department. On May 30, 2025, Catrell Reed was found deceased on a property near the intersection of Highway 81 and East 2350th Street, just west of Kewanee. On Sunday, January 26, 2025 at approximately 8:21 P.M. the Rock Island Police Department responded to a call of a gunshot victim at UnityPoint Trinity hospital. Upon arrival, officers learned that 16-year old Jentrell Lee was suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, and had been dropped off by an unknown person. Jentrell was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Rock Island Police Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate this murder. No arrests have been made. On June 8, 2024, the Kewanee Police Department responded to a welfare check in the 800 block of West Division Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Damon Foulks (Age 50) unresponsive and he was pronounced deceased. James Reed III (Age 26) from Kewanee has been identified as a person of interest. Agents are actively trying to locate Reed. Please do not approach him. On October 22, 2022 at 12:24 AM, Tavian Petersen-Brown and his girlfriend attended a party at a home in the 1000 block of 14th Street, Rock Island. During the party, Tavian was shot and killed by an unknown suspect. It is not known why Tavian was shot. Prior to police arrival, the majority of the people attending the party had fled the scene and those who remained could not provide much information. Tavian’s friends and family want and deserve answers. To help with that, a reward fund was established. The reward fund is up to $12,500. Crime Stoppers is also offering a $2,500 reward. On July 10, 2022 at about 7:00 am, Rock Island Police officers responded to the area of 12th Street and 10th Avenue on report of a male laying on the sidewalk. They discovered that victim Amani Kamata was deceased from gunshot wounds to his chest. Investigation revealed he was shot at around 11:30 pm on July 9th. Amani and his family migrated to the United States for a better life. His opportunity was cut short and his family deserves justice. COAL VALLEY ATTEMPTED MURDER STILL UNSOLVED - 2020-000246

One year ago, on March 11, 2020 at approximately 10:00 PM, an unknown suspect approached the front door of a home in the 1900 block of 1st Street, Coal Valley and knocked to make contact with the resident. When the occupant of the residence answered the door, the unknown suspect shot the resident in the chest. The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic or white male approximately 5’7”-5’10” tall with a slim build, dressed in a dark stocking cap, blue bandana covering his face from his eyes down, gray hooded sweatshirt with a lime green or yellow safety type vest over the sweatshirt and blue jeans. The suspect is believed to have fled the area in a waiting vehicle, identified as a red or maroon late 2000 Nissan Altima, with at least one other occupant. The Nissan fled the area southbound on 1st Street and then westbound on US Route 150. Ballistic information has also been obtained. At this time the Coal Valley Police Department continues to follow-up on all leads that continue to be generated. FAMILY STILL WANTS ANSWERS IN THIS COLD CASE FATAL HIT AND RUN - 2003-004349

On August 3, 2003 at about 1:45 a.m. Shannon Williams, Age 29, was walking in the westbound lanes of Illinois Route 5 in East Moline when he was struck by an unknown passenger car, described as a white, early 90`s model sedan; possibly an Impala, Celebrity, LeSabre, Dynasty or Electra that has a square, boxy body style. The car then fled the scene westbound on Route 5. Bystanders came from Two River`s Tavern (Now known as Chopper's) and rendered first aid to Williams, who was found lying on the north side of the westbound lanes. Another bystander attempted to follow the suspect vehicle, but lost it in traffic somewhere near Barstow Road. Williams was transported to Illini Hospital by ambulance, and was later transferred to Trinity West Medical Center, where died. The public’s help is needed to solve this 15 year old cold case. Around 2:32 AM on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, Davenport Police were called for a report of a gunshot victim at a residence in the 1000 block of West 8th Street. When officers arrived on scene they found Cainnan Gates, Age 34 had been murdered. This homicide is still unsolved.
